The country has lost Rs 100 crore everyday in the last seven years due to bank frauds. However, this loss amount is declining year after year. According to RBI, 83 per cent of banking fraud cases in the country are in just five states. Maharashtra tops it with 50 per cent, while Delhi is in second place. After that, most of the banking frauds are in the states like Telangana, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
According to the data, from April 1, 2015 to December 31, 2021, banking frauds of about Rs 2.5 lakh crore took place in all the states. In this, the share of these five states is more than Rs 2 lakh crore i.e. 83%. RBI has divided banking frauds into eight categories. However, the Finance Ministry says that steps have been taken for reporting and prevention of such incidents. Due to this, the cases of banking fraud are decreasing every year.
