Income Tax Raid The income tax department on Friday simultaneously raided around 35 locations of two big industrialists of Kishanganj and Katihar. The income tax investigation which began in the morning continued throughout the night. In Kishanganj, the team examined documents etc. at more than 25 locations of the Daftari Group. In Katihar too, income tax officials continued to survey about 10 locations of maize businessman Rajesh Chaudhari throughout the day. The team includes income tax officials from Patna, Bhagalpur, Ranchi, and Kolkata.
The team members said that the investigation will take a little longer. The team members refused to give any more information. According to sources, more than 30 lakh cash has been recovered from the establishments and offices in Katihar, Purnia and Delhi related to the trading business of maize trader Rajesh Chaudhary and his brother. Important documents related to plots, papers related to huge investments have been recovered by the team. More than 50 lakh cash has been recovered from the hideouts of Kishanganj industrialist Jaikaran Daftari, famous as JKD.
In Kishanganj, surveys are being conducted at Daftari Group’s establishments at Nemchand Road, Bhagat Toli, Dharamshala Road, Paschimpali, Subhash Palli and other places. The Income Tax Department team along with central forces reached the residence and offices of industrialist Rajkaran Daftari with a convoy of more than 60 vehicles. The team is looking for some important documents and evidence. These may be related to the alleged transactions.
Investigations are also underway at the locations of Daftari Group’s close business partners. Apart from Kishanganj, investigations are going on simultaneously in Siliguri, Dalkola, Kolkata, Rajasthan and many other places. Daftari Group is involved in many businesses including textile, tea, real estate, automobile. The director of Daftari Group is Rajkaran Daftari.
Along with the locations of Rajkaran Daftari, the residences and shopping malls of his brothers Vijay Karan Daftari and Tejkaran Daftari are also being investigated. This action is being taken under the leadership of the Director of Income Tax Department, Patna. The team includes about 200 officers and employees. During the investigation, IT experts and forensic laboratory teams have also come.
Meanwhile, income tax officials raided the office run in the house of maize businessman Rajesh Chaudhary in Semapur of Barari block in Katihar, the office run above Ambe Dharmakanta adjacent to his house, half a dozen warehouses and two warehouses run in Kursela. Some documents were torn and thrown away from the office located at Dharmakanta. The team got them picked up. The 55-member team of the department arrived at 6 am in 15 vehicles. The income tax team was present inside the house from morning to 7 pm.
The documents are being checked by opening the cupboards etc. of every room of the house and office. The Income Tax Deputy Director who arrived from Bhagalpur at around 5 pm said that nothing can be said until the investigation is complete. The investigation will go on for a long time. The locks of both the godowns in Kursela were not opened till evening. Some members of the team remained present there continuously. At 5:30 pm, the team took Rajesh Kumar from the house to the office of the weighing machine. Then, after some time, they returned from there.
