EPFO Enhances Operational Efficiency for Subscribers

New Delhi: In a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving the quality of life for over 75 million subscribers, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a consolidated access system for all key services and provident fund account details through a single login on its member portal.

To expedite the claim settlement process, the retirement fund body has also rationalized the approval hierarchy. This change is designed to fast-track claims, thus providing timely support to the members.

As part of these improvements, the EPFO has launched a new feature called ‘Passbook Lite’ within its member portal. This facility allows members to easily check their passbook, offering a summarized view of contributions, withdrawals, and balance in a user-friendly format. This means members can access their passbook directly through the member portal without needing to visit the traditional passbook portal.

This initiative is expected to reduce grievances, improve transparency, and enhance member satisfaction,” stated a representative from the EPFO. They further explained that this approach ensures greater ease of access for members while simultaneously enhancing operational efficiency by diminishing the load on the existing passbook portal and simplifying the architecture through the integration of existing APIs within the member portal.

The minister noted that the previous multi-layered approval process often resulted in delays and prolonged processing times for members’ claims. To address these issues, the EPFO has streamlined the approval hierarchy. Powers that were once held by regional provident fund commissioners or officers in charge have now been delegated to assistant PF commissioners and subordinate levels in a structured and tiered manner.

These initiatives are part of the EPFO’s ongoing efforts to create a more accessible and efficient service for its members, ensuring that their retirement savings are managed with the utmost care and efficiency.
