CBI Arrests Delhi Jal Board Employee in Bribery Case: A Step Towards Curbing Corruption
In a significant bust against corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Peon cum Assistant Meter Reader from the Delhi Jal Board, Zone-VI, Seelampur, alongside a private individual, in a bribery case. This action highlights the CBI’s commitment to tackling corruption within public services.
The case originated from a complaint filed on February 8, 2026, alleging that the accused Delhi Jal Board employee demanded a bribe of ₹12,000 from the complainant in exchange for rectifying and waiving pending water bills. Of this amount, ₹5,500 was reportedly taken by the accused on February 3, 2026, with a demand for the remaining ₹6,500 to finalize the settlement.
On February 9, 2026, the CBI conducted a planned operation, catching the accused Peon cum Assistant Meter Reader and his accomplice red-handed as they accepted the bribe of ₹6,500 from the complainant. Both individuals have been arrested, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
