SMS Alert Limits for UPI Transactions at HDFC Bank

HDFC Bank has notified its customers through email and SMS about the implementation of new limits on SMS alerts for UPI debit and credit transactions, effective from June 25, 2024. Customers will now only receive SMS updates for transactions above Rs 100 for money sent/paid and Rs 500 for money received. Meanwhile, customers will continue to receive email alerts for all UPI transactions.

New Limit for SMS Alerts for UPI Transactions

The new limit for SMS alerts for UPI transactions at HDFC Bank is transactions above Rs 100 for money sent/paid and Rs 500 for money received.

According to the communication sent by HDFC Bank:
“Starting from 25th June, 2024:

  • Email Alerts: Customers will continue to receive email alerts for all UPI transactions.
  • SMS Notifications: Customers will now only receive updates for transactions above Rs 100 for money sent/paid and Rs 500 for money received.”

How to Register for Email Alerts for All UPI Transactions

  • Step 1: Click on this link
  • Step 2: Enter your registered mobile number
  • Step 3: Verify using DoB, PAN, or Customer ID and click on “Get OTP.”

How to Update Contact Details at HDFC Bank Branch

  • Step 1: Obtain the common application form change form from the website or any HDFC Bank branches.
  • Step 2: Fill in the details and visit the nearest branch along with a photo ID proof.

How to Deactivate Insta Alerts

  • Step 1: Log in to NetBanking using your Customer Identification Number and NetBanking Password.
  • Step 2: Click on “Insta Alerts” at the top right-hand corner of the page.
  • Step 3: Select the account number for which you wish to deregister the alerts.
  • Step 4: Choose the type of alerts and click on “delete.”
  • Step 5: Once the alerts are selected, click on “confirm.” The alerts will then be deregistered for the same.

HDFC Bank Charges

As per the HDFC Bank website, effective from 1st Jan’22, revised charges for InstaAlert services via Email and SMS are applicable. Customers previously paying Rs. 3 per quarter for InstaAlert SMS service will now pay only 20 paise + GST per SMS. Email alerts will remain free.

Modification or Unsubscription of the Service

  • NetBanking: Go to ‘InstaAlert Registration’ at the top of the screen.
  • Mobile Banking App: Access the “Your Profile” section.
