There Was No Loss To Public Sector Banks in Last Three Quarters: Government

On behalf of the Central Government, it was told in the Rajya Sabha that in the last three quarters, no public sector bank has suffered losses, that is, their health has become better. Apart from this, the profit of all public sector banks stood at Rs 48,874 crore during this period. 

Minister of State for Finance gave information

On a question asked about profits earned by public sector banks, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said in the current financial year till December 2021, no government bank was in loss. However, for five consecutive years between 2015-16 and 2019-20, the public sector banks were in total loss. The highest loss of Rs 85,370 crore of public sector banks was recorded in the year 2017-18.
