Government Workshop on Reservation Policy for Financial Services

The Department of Financial Services is hosting a workshop on August 20-21, 2026, in Bengaluru to discuss the implementation of India's Reservation Policy in public sector financial institutions. The event aims to enhance accessibility for Divyangjans and foster effective policy execution, featuring experts and over 100 participants from various regulatory bodies.

Government Workshop on Reservation Policy for Financial Services

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, is convening a workshop on 20-21 August 2026 at the Union Bank of India Staff College, Bengaluru, on the implementation of the Government of India’s Reservation Policy in Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Public Sector Insurance Companies (PSICs), Sectoral Regulators and Public Financial Institutions (PFIs). The workshop on Day 2 will address the issue of enhancing accessibility of financial services for Divyangjans.

The workshop is being organised in association with Union Bank of India, with the objective of strengthening institutional capacity to ensure uniform and effective implementation of reservation policies and promote welfare measures across public financial institutions.

On Day 1, the workshop was attended by over 100 participants, which included senior Human Resource functionaries and CLOs from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), and all 12 Public Sector Banks, 7 Public Sector Insurance Companies and 7 Public Sector Financial Institutions.

Functional experts on reservation matters addressed the workshop, and the deliberations also included a round table on the practical aspects and issues being faced in the implementation of reservation policy. The day concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to deliberate on actionable measures for uniform implementation of reservation policies across the financial services ecosystem.
