Income Tax Notice: There is a stir in Betul district MP after a laborer received a notice of Rs 314 crore 79 lakh 87 thousand 883 from the Income Tax Department. This notice is no less than a shock for the laborer living in a small rented house. On seeing the notice, the ground slipped under his feet, his wife’s health deteriorated and there was tension in the family.
Actually, the matter came to light when the Maharashtra Income Tax Department sought information about the immovable property of Chandrashekhar Pandit Rao Kohad, a resident of Ambedkar Ward, from Multai Municipality of Betul. Investigation revealed that the land mentioned was not registered in the name of Chandrashekhar, but in the name of Manohar Harkchand, son of Radhelal Kirad, a resident of Devthan, Amla. The Municipality sent this reply to the Income Tax Department.
Chandrashekhar said that he runs his family with a daily wage of Rs 200-300. Four years ago, he opened an account in a bank in Nagpur, in which he used to deposit small amounts. The bank agent took his mobile number, but it was not linked to the account. He had no knowledge of the activities of the account.
According to the notice, this tax can be based on transactions of about Rs 3 lakh crore. Chandrashekhar’s health deteriorated due to this news and he is undergoing treatment in Nagpur.

Municipal employees searched for Chandrashekhar for a week, but could not find any record of his property.
In-charge CMO GR Deshmukh said, “Information was sought about the immovable property of Chandrashekhar Pandit Rao Kohad, resident of Ambedkar Ward. On investigation, it was found that there is no property in his name in Ambedkar Ward. The reply has been sent to the Maharashtra Income Tax Department.
Meanwhile, Chandrashekhar Pandit Rao Kohad said, “My life has been disrupted after receiving the notice. I had never imagined the amount of tax being demanded from me. Because of this, I am facing harassment. My wife’s health has deteriorated and there is tension at home. I am a heart patient, my condition has also worsened.
On the other hand, Chandrashekhar is now trying to contact the Maharashtra Income Tax Department and seek legal advice to find out how such a huge tax was found in his name. This matter remains a subject of investigation.
