Visakhapatnam: Income Tax department seized unaccounted gold from two jewellers in Vijayawada and Guntur in the past two days of searches. The searches yielded around 25kg of gold which was not accounted for in the books. Three to four teams of the IT investigation wing carried out searches at the jewellery showrooms, where they found jewellers procuring unaccounted gold from Mumbai, Kolkata, and Gujarat. It may be recalled that IT teams seized unaccounted gold worth over 80 crore from three jewellers of Proddatur in YSR Kadapa district in October. Posing as I-T officials, 8 raid Mumbai jewellery businessman, seize 18 lakh; held

Eight people posing as income tax officials ‘raided’ the home of an imitation jewellery businessman in Sion and ‘seized’ Rs 18 lakh. The police arrested the suspects, including Rajkumar Gujjar, a friend of the businessman’s grandson. Gujjar revealed that the Patwas had received Rs 10 crore in cash from a property deal. The Patwas filed a complaint against unknown persons for cheating, forgery, and criminal breach of trust. The complaint was lodged after consulting their chartered accountant, Abdul Faiz.
