ICAI Removes Names of 7 CAs from Register of Members for Professional Misconduct

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has taken action against 7 Chartered Accountants (CAs) for professional misconduct. These CAs have been removed from the Register of Members and fined as per the Order of the Disciplinary Committee of ICAI.

Here are the details of the disciplinary actions taken:

  1. CA. Joydeep Roy: Found guilty of professional misconduct and fined Rs. 25,000. Despite an opportunity to pay the fine within 90 days, the respondent failed to do so, leading to the removal of their name from the Register of Members for a period of 25 months, starting from 16th April 2024.
  2. CA. Sanjay Kumar Ruia: Held guilty of ‘Other Misconduct’ and fined Rs. 1,00,000. Consequently, CA. Sanjay Kumar Ruia’s name has been removed from the Register of Members for a period of 3 months, effective from 16th April 2024.
  3. CA. Haresh Kantilal Shah: Found guilty of ‘Other Misconduct’ and subject to a period of 1 month’s removal from the Register of Members, commencing from 16th April 2024.
  4. CA. Ashwani Kumar Dewan: Found guilty of professional and ‘Other Misconduct’ and hence, CA. Ashwani Kumar Dewan’s name has been removed from the Register of Members for a period of 1 month, starting from 16th April 2024.
  5. CA. Kaustubh Pratik: Found guilty of professional misconduct, leading to a 1-month removal from the Register of Members, effective from 16th April 2024.
  6. CA. Durgesh Kumar Mishra: Held guilty of ‘Other Misconduct’ and consequently removed from the Register of Members for a period of 1 month, starting from 16th April 2024.
  7. CA. Daulat Mal Mehta: Found guilty of ‘Other Misconduct’ and fined Rs. 1,00,000. The individual’s name has been removed from the Register of Members for a period of 3 months from 16th April 2024.

These actions have been taken in accordance with the relevant provisions, rules, and regulations, emphasizing the commitment to upholding professional standards within the accounting industry.
