Faceless adjudication is a system where tax-related cases are reviewed and decided without any direct interaction between the taxpayer and the tax officer. This is done to increase transparency, reduce corruption, and improve efficiency.
Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal on Wednesday announced plans to implement ‘faceless adjudication’ in the taxpayer services and audit wings of the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) department.
In the context of the State GST Department implementing this system, it means that businesses in that state will have their GST-related issues resolved without having to meet with any tax officials in person. The entire process, from filing appeals to receiving decisions, will be conducted online.
This is a significant step towards modernizing the tax administration system and making it more taxpayer-friendly.
