Officer Arrested For Taking Rs. 50000 Bribe For GST Certificate

The Vigilance Bureau has arrested Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner i.e. DETC Raja Ram Nain, posted in Bahadurgarh, red-handed while taking a bribe of 50 thousand rupees. DETC Raja Ram Nain had demanded a bribe from a person named Shankar Lal, a resident of Gurugram, in exchange for issuance of GST certificate .

Vigilance Bureau SP Rajesh Phogat told that the accused DETC Raja Ram Nain was lax in issuing GST certificate to a private firm for a long time and then demanded bribe in return for the work. In this regard, the employee of the firm lodged a complaint with the State Vigilance Bureau, Rohtak, on the basis of which the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and arrested the accused red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50000.

The accused DETC Raja Ram Nain is working as Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Sales Tax) in Bahadurgarh since January 2021. A case has been registered against the accused and further action is being taken.

The accused was interrogated till late night in a closed room. Rajaram Nain has been arrested. Vigilance officers are not allowing any person to enter in the office. SP Vigilance said that the matter is being investigated. Anything can be said in this matter only after the inquiry is completed.
