GST registration to get 3-day auto approval from Nov 1: FM Nirmala Sitharaman.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a simplified GST registration scheme that is set to roll out from November 1, 2025.
The key features of this new initiative are:
- 3-Day Auto Approval: Registration will be granted on an automated basis within three working days from the date of application submission for eligible applicants.
- Target Beneficiaries: This simplified process is primarily for:
- Small, Low-Risk Businesses: Applicants identified as low-risk based on system-based data and analytics.
- Businesses with Low Output Tax Liability: Those who self-assess that their monthly output tax liability (on supplies to registered persons) will not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
- Public Sector Entities.
- Impact: This measure is expected to benefit approximately 96% of new applicants for GST registration, aiming to ease compliance and reduce manual intervention.
- Nature of Scheme: The scheme is optional, allowing businesses to voluntarily opt into or withdraw from it.
This reform is part of the broader “Next-Generation GST Reforms” (or GST 2.0) aimed at improving the ease of doing business and enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the tax system.
