Members of the Bengal Brick Kiln Owners Association, under the banner of All India Brick and Tile Manufacturers Association, will protest against the increase in GST in front of Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 8 and demand the immediate withdrawal of the proposal.

The union said in a statement, “If the proposal of the Central Government to increase the GST on the sale of red bricks is implemented from April 1, then this industry will come to a standstill.”

The union says that in September 2021, the GST Council has proposed to increase the tax rate on the sale of red bricks from five per cent to 12 per cent.
