CBI Arrests Two Senior BSNL Engineers in Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today, i.e., 27.08.2026, has arrested Chief Engineer (Electrical) and Superintending Engineer (Electrical) of BSNL, Bhopal, in a bribery case.
The CBI registered the instant case on 27.08.2026 against the said accused on allegations that the accused Chief Engineer (Electrical) and Superintending Engineer (Electrical) posted at BSNL, Bhopal demanded an undue advantage of Rs. 2 Lakh for each accused from a Jabalpur based firm which executed Operation & Comprehensive Maintenance (OCM) and electrical installation related work of BSNL. The bribe amount was demanded for processing pending bills of the firm pertaining to 14 different works.
The CBI laid a trap today and caught both the accused officers of BSNL, Bhopal red-handed while accepting an undue advantage of Rs.75000 each, as part payment of the demanded bribe amount of Rs. 2 Lakh for each accused.
Searches are being conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused persons in Bhopal, Lucknow and Kanpur.
The investigation of the case is continuing.
