The jobless rate for women declined to 4.2 percent in 2019-20 from 5.1 percent in 2018-19.

Minister of State for Labor and Employment Rameshwar Teli gave a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The Labor Ministry said in the statement, “The unemployment rate for women has come down to 4.2 in 2019-21 from 5.1 percent in the year 2018-19.” The same under MGNREGA as per the PLFS data for 2019-20. The share of women in the total employment created in 2020-21 has increased to about 207 crore manday. The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) for women has increased to 30 percent in 2019-20 from 24.5 percent in 2018-19.
