Govt appoints SBI Managing Director Ashwini Bhatia as whole time member of SEBI

The government has appointed State Bank of India (SBI) Managing Director Ashwini Bhatia as a whole-time member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Sources said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved Bhatia’s appointment initially for a period of three years, starting from the date of assuming the charge.

He said that with the appointment of Bhatia as Whole Time Member (WTM), now only one post of Whole Time Member is vacant in SEBI.

Bhatia was made the Managing Director of SBI in August 2020, he is due to retire in May this year.
