The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Garrison Engineer, EE (SG), Morar Cantonment, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from the Complainant.
A case was registered against the accused on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs. 4.20 lakh (5% of awarded work of Rs. 84 lakh) in connection with special repair to building & provision for a covered shed, etc. It was further alleged that the accused had threatened the complainant to face consequences, if the demanded bribe is not given to him.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe of Rs. 50,000/.
Searches were conducted at the residential & office premises of the accused at Gwalior & Santkabir Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) which led to recovery of incriminating documents; cash of Rs. 9.6 lakh (approx.) and documents related to land plots at Lucknow & Noida.
The arrested accused will be produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases at Bhopal.
