FASTag New Rule: Updating Your KYC
In today’s era, the number of car drivers is steadily increasing, leading to a growing demand for the use of FASTag. This system has been designed to streamline toll payments and alleviate congestion at toll booths. Ensuring that all car drivers have a FASTag is crucial to avoid issues at toll plazas.
As of August 1, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has implemented new rules requiring FASTag users to complete their KYC (Know Your Customer) process, particularly for FASTags that are three years or older. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the deactivation of the FASTag. Here’s a guide on how to complete the KYC process, both online and offline.
Required Documents for FASTag KYC
- Passport
- Voter ID
- Aadhaar card
- Driving license
- PAN card
- NREGA Job Card
- Vehicle RC (Registration Certificate)

How to Update KYC Offline
According to RBI guidelines, you can also update your KYC offline. Visit the bank that issued your FASTag, fill out the application form, and the bank will update your FASTag account details.
Who Needs to Update Their KYC?
Anyone with a FASTag that is three years old must update their KYC. Moreover, if your FASTag is five years old, you will need to replace it. It is crucial to adhere to these guidelines to avoid the deactivation of your FASTag and ensure a seamless toll payment experience.
Keep in mind that other rules have also come into effect as of today, so it’s essential to stay informed and compliant with the latest regulations.
Stay ahead of the game by proactively updating your FASTag KYC and embracing the convenience it offers for hassle-free toll payments!
