Fraud Prevention: Candidates applying for positions at Infosys are now required to check their job application status directly through the company’s internal system, as the organization has halted the practice of sending job offer letters and attachments via email.
Combatting Fraud: This new method is designed to curtail fraudulent recruitment practices, enhance the hiring experience, and streamline the process by making it completely digital. It will also reduce the ability of candidates to “window shop” and negotiate with competing employers.
Application Guidance: Infosys advises applicants on its career website to verify their job offers through a dedicated link requiring their login details. The company has raised concerns over the increase in recruitment fraud, with scammers posting false job offers and misleading information.
In the fiscal year 2024, Infosys received 2.4 million job applications, conducted interviews with 194,367 candidates, and extended job offers to 26,975 individuals, according to official company records.
Implications for Job Seekers: Experts note that hiring “unsuitable candidates” and those lacking commitment could disrupt service delivery and impact productivity. The challenges faced during the Covid-19 pandemic serve as a notable example of this issue within IT firms.
Government Intervention: In light of escalating consumer complaints regarding service deficiencies at Ola Electric, the government has chosen to intervene.
