Ah, Eighteen grueling years for RCB fans and they had won the previous season too! This back to back would be in just two seasons for the fans of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Patidar has joined an elite club of just three captains to have achieved this feat – MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and now Rajat Patidar.
The Chase Master Reigns Supreme
The Bengaluru-based side were given a tough run for their money in the match but eventually sealed a 5-wicket victory to defend their title. Virat Kohli, the Chase Master, showed his class with an incredible 75 off 42 deliveries, thus earning him the Man of the Match award.
However it was the Chase Master that stole the show as Virat Kohli took on the GT in bowling. The RCB captain had taken on Mohit Solanki in the 16th over for 15 runs from 7 balls and was then given the full delivery on the off by Arshad Khan in the 18th over. The Kohli that we know of was back as he slung his bat across the pitch to hit the six off the top of long-on. The crowd just erupted as Kohli celebrated his brilliant knock with the RCB players rushing to congratulate him. The RCB dugout was painted red as they celebrated the crucial six as millions of fans around the world were left stunned by the incredible shot.
Kohli in a show of extreme disrespect for the GT fans, pointed to his ears after hitting the winning runs. The gesture clearly stated that he was going to silence his critics. The entire stadium was painted in Red and Gold, and the Kohli finally acknowledged the crowd as he raised his hands in triumph.
