The new TRACES portal requires a specific password format for downloading the Conso File, combining the TAN allotment date, form type, quarter, and tax year. Mandatory e-verification through Aadhaar OTP or DSC is now necessary for access, while complications in the Traces procedure persist.

TDS UPDATE | New TRACES Portal

The password for the Conso File downloaded from the new TRACES portal will be:

TAN Allotment Date + Form Type + Quarter + Tax Year

Format:
DDMMYYNNNQNYYYY

The TAN allotment date is available under Profile on the dashboard – PIC
Example: TAN allotment date 15/09/2004

Password: 15090414OQ12026

Further, E-VERIFICATION through Aadhaar OTP or DSC is now mandatory for downloading the Conso File.

  1. The password depends on whether you are opening the Conso File (Consolidated File) or the Justification Report for Form 140 (formerly Form 26Q) for Q1 FY 2026-27:

    1. For the TDS Conso File (Consolidated File)

The password format to unzip or open the Conso file remains standard:

    Format: TAN_RequestNumber (in capital letters)

Example: If your TAN is ABCD12345E and your download request number is 67890, the password will be: ABCD12345E_67890

    1. For the Justification Report

If you are looking for the password to open the Justification Report for Form 140, Q1, FY 2026-27 under the revised framework, the format is:

Format: JR_ followed by your TAN, Form No. (140), Quarter (Q1), and the Year (2026) with no spaces or extra special characters.

Example: If your TAN is BLRAXXXXXD, the password will be: JR_BLRAXXXXXD140Q12026
