If you have not yet linked your PAN card with Aadhaar. So you have reason to be happy as well as a little sad. The government has extended the last date of this work for one year, but now this service will not be available for ‘free’.
One more year for PAN-Aadhaar link
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex policy making body for the Income Tax Department, has extended the last date for linking PAN-Aadhaar for a full year to 31 March 2023.
CBDT also issued a notification regarding this late in the evening on Wednesday. It is written in the notification that in order to reduce the inconvenience to the taxpayers, the time period for linking Aadhaar with PAN card has been extended till 31 March 2023. This is the fourth time that the government has extended the last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar.
PAN will continue to work
People whose PAN-card has not been linked with Aadhaar till now, after this new arrangement of CBDT, will continue to work without any hindrance till March 31, 2023. In this way, from filing income tax return to getting refund, it can be used as before.
Free service ended, it will cost so much money
Till now taxpayers were not required to pay any money for this work. But now this ‘free service’ has been stopped. In such a situation, if a taxpayer gets his PAN-Aadhaar link between 1 April 2022 to 30 June 2022, then he will have to pay a fee of Rs 500 and after that a fee of Rs 1,000.
