Jaipur: The Investigation Wing of the Income Tax Department has launched a probe into large-scale agricultural land deals involving developers, firms, and institutions. Collaborating with IIT Delhi, the department is using satellite imagery to identify agricultural land within municipal limits. Officials are examining long-term capital gains from land sold within 6–8 km of municipal boundaries and recovering due taxes.

The Jaipur Investigation Wing has issued summons to around 110 sellers who sold crores worth of land but failed to disclose transactions or pay tax. Satellite mapping identified over 250 villages near Jaipur Municipal Corporation where large transactions occurred with minimal tax compliance. In six years, land worth `7,000 crore was sold around Jaipur, while statewide deals exceeded `20,000 crore. Similar probes are underway in 14 cities.
