The Income Tax department carried out a raid at a transport company situated in Transport Nagar on Wednesday. The operation at Ludhiana Kolkata Transport extended late into the night.

Accompanied by security personnel, officials from the income tax department arrived in the city early in the morning and initiated search operations at eight locations, including the company’s office in Transport Nagar and the owner’s residence in Aggar Nagar.

The raid is suspected to be linked to tax evasion, with officials gathering documents and scrutinizing all records.

According to sources familiar with the situation, the company is owned by Charan Singh Lohara, who had previously held the position of chairperson at the All India Motor Transport Congress. Lohara is known to have close ties with Simarjit Singh Mann, a member of Parliament (MP) and the chief of Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) in Amritsar.
