Ahmedabad: Income department has issued notices to institutional taxpayers to file returns, but notices have gone even to those who have completedprocedure beforedue date.
Chartered accountants said a mistake has led to the situation but have demanded that notices be sentonly to those who have not filed the returns.
CA Jainik Vakil, chairman of GCCI’s direct tax committee said, “Over the past few days, the income taxadepartment has been issuing notices to taxpayers to file their income returns for the 2022-23 financial year.
However, the department has issued notices to even those taxpayers, who have filed their returns before .the deadline. This has created panic among many. The department should rectify this mistake.”
