Recently, the GST portal underwent maintenance to improve its services. As part of the updates, the GST registration process has been enhanced. The portal now automatically populates turnover details based on information from your previous income tax returns (ITR). This improvement simplifies the GST registration process by eliminating the need for manual entry of turnover information, thereby reducing the potential for errors.
The GST portal will display important details, including the financial year of the filed ITR, gross total income (GTI) amount, gross turnover, and tax paid, as reported in earlier ITR filings. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to facilitating business operations through improved tools, making tax filing quicker, more straightforward, and less stressful for taxpayers.
