Nationalist Tax Practitioners Cell State Head of Sharadchandra Pawar Party in Maharashtra, Shri. Nagesh Salunkhe, met with taxpayers and tax professionals to submit a representation regarding the difficulties they are facing. The representation notes that the deadline of 30 September for tax audits, following the final due dates of 31 July and 31 August for income tax returns, is proving insufficient. For the assessment year 2026-27, the final deadline for submitting tax audit reports is 30 September. The pressure from GST and TDS-related work, technical difficulties on the income tax portal, recent festivals, and the proposed nationwide bank strike from 28 to 30 September are causing challenges for chartered accountants, tax consultants, and taxpayers in completing their work. There is a demand to extend the deadline for submitting audit reports to ensure the audit work is accurate and thorough. We request the Union Finance Minister, Hon. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji, to sympathetically consider these practical difficulties and extend the deadline for submitting tax audit reports, as well as for filing the related income tax returns.
