ITR 1 or Sahaj

ITR-1 or Sahaj is a simplified Income Tax Return form for resident individuals with a total annual income of up to Rs 50 lakh. It is suitable for those who earn income from salary, pension, house property, or other sources (excluding specific categories).

ITR-2

ITR-2 is a detailed Income Tax Return form for individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) with a broader range of income sources, including foreign income, unlisted equity shares, and more.

ITR 3

ITR-3 is designed for individuals and HUFs with income from a proprietary business or engaged in a profession that requires bookkeeping and/or audit. This form is suitable for those who do not meet the criteria for ITR-1, ITR-2, or ITR-4.

ITR 4 or Sugam

Sugam or ITR-4 is a simplified Income Tax Return form for individuals, HUFs, and Partnership firms with specific business and professional income sources.

ITR 5, ITR 6, and ITR 7

ITR-5 caters to a spectrum of business entities, ITR-6 is for companies excluding those eligible for exemption under section 11, and ITR-7 is for specific entities required to file returns under various sections of the Income Tax Act.
