9 Crore Unaccounted Cash Seized from Car Near Electronic City
Income Tax officials seized around 9 crore in cash from a Creta car allegedly transporting the money illegally from Bengaluru towards Hosur on August 18.
Acting on a request from Jagadish, Deputy Director of Income Tax, Unit-22, Bengaluru, Electronic City police intercepted the vehicle bearing registration KL 20 T 8629 near a signal after the BETL toll on Hosur Road at around 10.30 pm.
The car had two occupants, including 42 year old Sachin reportedly associated with Sindhu Jewellers in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The vehicle and occupants were handed over to the Income Tax team for further investigation.
Officials also reportedly recovered 1.3 crore during a search at a residence in Tamil Nadu.
