However, if a little information is taken and all the necessary documents are collected in advance, then you can file Income Tax Return (ITR) online in just 5 minutes. You will not have to spend any money for this. Here we are telling the complete process step by step. However, before filing ITR, you should collect some important documents.

To file ITR, first of all keep the necessary documents like your PAN, Aadhaar card, bank account number, investment details and its proof / certificate, Form 16, Form 26AS with you, because all the information related to your ITR will be available from these documents only.

Which category of taxpayer are you?

To file ITR, you should know which category of taxpayer you are and which ITR form you have to fill. For example, ITR 1 ‘Sahaj’ form is for those taxpayers whose total income is up to Rs 50 lakh. They have income from other sources like salary, a house and interest.

Understand step by step process

Step 1: First of all go to Enter your User ID and then click on Continue, then enter your password and login.

Step 2: After login, the option of Click on E-file will appear on the screen. Keep going in this sequence.

Step 3: Select Assessment year 2021-22 from the list.

Step 4: After selecting Assessment Year, click on Continue and select the “OFFLINE” Mode given below in the middle, then go to “Filling Type” and select 139(1)-Original Return and then on the basis of your category But select “ITR FORM”, as there is ITR-1 for salary income. The form will be downloaded on your system.

Step-5: After this the selected form will open in front of you, in which keep filling all the requested information and keep saving.

Step 6: Then go to the screen, you will see the option of “Attach File” and attach your form here.

Step 7: After attaching the file, the site will validate the file and after validation click on “Proceed to Verification”.

Step 8: In this way your return has been filed within few minutes and now you can do E-Verification to verify your return.
