A case of transfer of TDS – Tax Deducted at Source – amount of Rs.2 crore, in his and his relatives, has come to surface by an outsource employee of Income Tax Department has been unearthed. A case under Section 420, 120-B has been registered at Ferozepur Cantt police station on the complaint of Naresh Kumar Bansal, Income Tax Officer, against Prince Chopra resident of Ferozepur City along with an unidentified person.
Meanwhile, the police have started further action by registering a case against the accused and his other accomplices with appointment of Amandeep Kaur as Investigating Officer. However, the accused is still out of the grip of the police.
In the complaint given to the police, Income Tax Officer Ward No. 3 Naresh Kumar Bansal said that Prince Chopra’s son Pravesh Chopra, resident of Sant Nagar Ichche Wala Road Ferozepur city, along with some of his other colleagues, had looted government departments by falsifying the income tax returns, a scam of about Rs 2 crore has been done. In this, BDPO Ferozepur, EO Nagar Panchayat Mamdot, EO Municipal Council Ferozepur for cheating in income tax returns for the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22. Prince Chopra, the alleged accused, posted on outsourcing in the Tax Department, attached the said refund to his PAN card and along with the PAN cards of his other acquaintances and got the said amount refunded in their bank accounts.
However, the official said, it is not possible to hoodwink the system since everything is digitized.
