ICAI Announces Postponement of CA Examinations in Kathmandu
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the postponement of the CA examinations initially scheduled for September 9 and 10, 2025, in Kathmandu, Nepal. This decision comes in light of the ongoing protests in the country, which erupted following the government’s temporary ban on social media platforms.
According to the official notice, the CA Intermediate Group 1, Paper 1 (planned for September 9) and the CA Final Group 1, Paper 1 (planned for September 10) will not take place on their original dates in Kathmandu. Fresh dates for these papers will be announced at a later time.
ICAI clarified that this postponement applies solely to the Kathmandu centre, and all other examination centres in India and abroad will conduct the papers as initially scheduled. Students scheduled to appear outside of Kathmandu have been instructed to adhere to the timings specified on their admit cards and report accordingly.
The decision comes after the situation in Nepal has turned volatile, with youth-led demonstrations persisting even after the lifting of social media restrictions. Reports indicate that the unrest has already resulted in 19 casualties, raising significant safety concerns.
This marks the second instance of postponement for ICAI exams in September 2025. Previously, the examinations set for September 2 and 3 in Punjab were deferred due to severe flooding across multiple districts, with revised dates yet to be provided.
ICAI has advised candidates affected by the postponement in Kathmandu to stay informed through the official website for further announcements regarding the rescheduled examinations.
