The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Thursday cautioned the public that sharing Aadhaar and PAN details without valid reason or any monetary benefit can be misused by fraudsters for GST evasion.
CBIC in a tweet said that Aadhaar and PAN details can be used to create fake entities for GST evasion and hence people should refrain from sharing them without any valid reason.
“Protect your personal data, which can be misused to create fake entities for GST evasion,” the CBIC wrote on Twitter.
Over the years, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) authorities have busted several bogus companies that were used to fraudulently claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) by creating fake invoices without actual supply of goods.
