Affiliation Fees are Now to be Paid by Colleges in Installments as GST Row Continues
The College Development Council (CDC) will notify the affiliation for the year 2028–29 and in order to do so 3 installments of college affiliation fee is to be deposited prior to the notification creating fear in the minds of managements of all colleges.
Dharwad: Private College Objects to GST on Affiliation Fee. A private college in Dharwad has taken strong exception to College Development Council’s (CDC) decision to slap GST on affiliation fee which various colleges have to pay to university. The college principal said that the GST on affiliation fee would cost the college around Rs 2 lakh. The college has threatened to take legal action against university.
Dr AM Khan, Vice-Chancellor of KUD said he shall take up the issue with the Government and persuade them to waive GST on affiliation fees collected from colleges. The Judicial Observations are strong against levy of GST on fees collected from students by Educational Institutions and there are instances where Hon’ble Court has given relief to students in similar circumstances, said the university officials.
