Cyber scammers can misuse your WhatsApp account through fake QR codes, OTPs, and social engineering. Once they gain control, they may ask your contacts for money in the name of medical treatment or emergencies.

To stay safe, keep these in mind:
1. Do not scan unknown QR codes and avoid suspicious links.
2. Do not share OTP, verification codes, or 2-Step Verification PIN with anyone.
3. Keep 2-Step Verification enabled and regularly check Linked Devices.
4. Immediately log out from unknown devices.
5. Do not install unknown apps or Remote Access apps, and do not share your screen.
6. If someone asks for money, verify their identity via a phone call.

If you suspect your account has been hacked: Re-register WhatsApp with your number, log out from unknown devices, and alert your contacts.
