Aadhar authentication mandatory to get GST refund, CBIC amends rules, which includes various measures to check tax evasion

The government has made Aadhaar authentication mandatory for taxpayers to claim GST refund.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has amended the GST rules, which include various measures to prevent tax evasion. For example, GST refund will be given only in that bank account, which is linked to the same PAN, on which GST registration is done.

With effect from January 1, 2022, businesses which have defaulted in filing summary return and paying monthly GST will not be able to file GSTR-1 sales return for the next month.
