Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday called Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) a revolutionary step.
He said that this service has proved that corruption and any kind of wrongdoing can be prevented from the system by better use of technology.
He said that DBT is not merely indicative, but through it, a savings of one lakh crore rupees is being made. He said that this is being done with the effective use of technology. Addressing the 44th Civil Accounts Day, Sitharaman called upon Civil Accounts Officers to work on more effective technology to further improve the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
