The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has commenced processing claims at the latest interest rate of 8.25 per cent per annum for outgoing members. This information was conveyed through a series of posts on X. According to the pension manager, the rate of interest is calculated based on the income from debt and equity investments of EPFO.
Moreover, all active EPF members are set to receive the interest credited following the recommendation of the Central Board of Trustees in February 2024, which was subsequently approved by the Finance Ministry in May of the same year. The EPFO reported that it has settled 23,04,516 claims, disbursing a total amount of Rs 9,260.40 crore to the members, inclusive of the latest interest rate of 8.25 per cent per annum.
In February, the EPFO had announced an interest rate of 8.25 per cent for the financial year 2023-24 for its over 29 crore total subscribers, of which approximately 6.8 crore are active contributing members.
