Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, delivered a keynote address at the National Conference on “Tackling Cyber-Enabled Frauds & Dismantling the Ecosystem” in New Delhi. This pivotal event saw the inauguration of the New Cybercrime Branch of CBI and the launch of the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C) dashboard under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs.
Key Initiatives to Combat Cybercrime
During his address, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the collaborative efforts of various government agencies aimed at preventing and reducing cybercrime. He highlighted the impressive milestone of India achieving 1 billion internet users, underscoring the significance of Digital India in enhancing connectivity from Parliament to Panchayats via BharatNet.
The Home Minister praised the successful recovery of ₹8,189 crore out of an estimated ₹20,000 crore in cyber fraud, recognizing the commendable work of the I4C and CBI. He called for enhanced coordination among 795 institutions connected to banks and fintech companies, noting that 62 banks have already joined the initiative.
Strengthening Digital Security
Shri Amit Shah stated that the government is committed to improving real-time reporting of cybercrimes, capacity building, and promoting cyber awareness. He urged police departments nationwide to ensure adequate staffing at the 1930 call centers to respond promptly to victims of cyber fraud.
The Minister announced a plan to onboard all banks and financial institutions, including cooperative banks, onto the I4C platform by December 2026, reinforcing the collective effort towards a secure digital ecosystem.
Addressing Evolving Cyber Threats
Amit Shah emphasized the need for all stakeholders to continuously adapt to the evolving nature of cyber threats, as cybercrime now operates on an institutional level using advanced technologies. He called for a multi-dimensional strategy that includes robust forensic networks, research and development, and public awareness campaigns to build a secure cyberspace.

The conference also honored outstanding contributions from CBI officers with service medals, including the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. This recognition highlights the significant achievements made in combating cybercrime and reinforces the critical role of law enforcement.
Conference Outcomes
The two-day conference featured comprehensive sessions focusing on the cyber-enabled fraud ecosystem, financial laundering investigations, and the regulatory framework surrounding telecom infrastructure. With 362 delegates representing diverse stakeholders in attendance and sessions broadcast live to over 2,356 locations, the conference aimed to maximize engagement on critical issues related to cyber-enabled frauds.
