CBI Arrests Proclaimed Offender Absconding Since 2021 in Post-Poll Violence Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Proclaimed Offender, namely, Nazir Hossen, today, i.e., 12.02.2026 from the residence of his father-in-law at North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal, in Post-Poll Violence (PPV) Case.  

The CBI had investigated Post Poll Violence cases on the directions of Hon’ble Calcutta High Court. In one of the PPV cases ( RC0562021S0035). It was alleged that the accused Nazir Hossen in criminal conspiracy with other accused persons surrounded the deceased Hasnur Zaman in the morning of 02.05.2021 being armed with firearms, hand bombs and iron rods and killed him by hurling bombs due to political rivalry and a dispute regarding the construction of club house on the land of mosque.

The PO Nazir Hossen along with 12 other accused persons was charge sheeted by CBI under different sections of IPC, Explosive Substance Act and Indian Explosive Act. The case is under trial in the Court Ld. ADJ-IV, Barasat, W.B.

The PO Nazir Hossen has been evading his arrest since inception of the case in 2021. He has been arrested by CBI based on human intelligence and technical inputs.

The arrested PO was produced before the Ld. ADJ-IV, Barasat, today and has been remanded to Judicial Custody.
