IRDAI cautions about a counterfeit Bima Bharosa portal
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has issued a warning after reports of a fake website that imitates its Bima Bharosa grievance platform. The regulator advises customers to rely only on the official Bima Bharosa portal for lodging complaints and related services.
Policyholders are urged not to disclose one-time passwords (OTPs), Know Your Customer (KYC) information, or banking details on any site other than the legitimate portal, as doing so could expose them to fraud and financial risk.
- Use the official Bima Bharosa portal for all grievance submissions and inquiries.
- Avoid clicking links from unsolicited emails or messages claiming to be from IRDAI or Bima Bharosa.
- If you suspect you have shared sensitive data, consider changing credentials and monitoring accounts for unusual activity.
- Report suspected phishing sites to IRDAI and other authorities through official channels.
