ED, Hydedrabad Zonal Office has conducted search operations at 07 locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa under PMLA, 2002 on 21.08.2026 in connection with Late Sh. Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The search operations resulted in seizure of incriminating documents & digital devices. In addition, unaccounted cash of Rs. 24 Lakh and 2 locker keys were recovered and seized from the premises of Sh. Y S Avinash Reddy.
Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Hydedrabad Zonal Office has conducted searches at 07 locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on 21.08.2026 in connection with Late Sh. Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
Late Sh. Y S Vivekananda Reddy, paternal uncle of Ex. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sh. Jagan Mohan Reddy and a Popular political leader (Ex. MLA, MP) from Kadapa was found murdered on 15.03.2019 at his residence. The Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh vide its order dt. 11.03.2020 passed in WP No. 1639/2020 directed the CBI to conduct further investigation.
The CBI registered an FIR u/s 302 & 120-B of IPC and upon conducting substantial investigation, the CBI filed 03 chargesheets in the matter wherein Sh. Y S Avinash Reddy (YSRCP Lok Sabha MP from Kadapa), Sh. Y S Bhaskar Reddy, Sh. D Shiva Shankar Reddy, Sh. T Gangi Reddy, Sh. Y Sunil Yadav and others were arrayed as accused. CBI chargesheet revealed that Sh. D Siva Shanker Reddy (a political functionary of the YSRCP) and his close associates Sh. Y S Avinash Reddy & his father Sh. Y S Bhaskar Reddy were unhappy when Late Sh. Y S Vivekanand Reddy joined YSRCP, as their increasing influence in politics could have been challenged. So, to eliminate him, they hatched a criminal conspiracy and included his staff, including T Gangi Reddy, Shaik Dastagiri and Y Sunil Yadav.
Sh. Shaik Dastagiri later turned approver and was granted pardon by Special CBI Court. He disclosed that the murder conspiracy was hatched around one moth prior to the murder. Sh. T Gangi Reddy informed him that Sh. D Siva Shankar Reddy and some senior politicians were also involved in the plan of the murder of Late Sh. Y S Vivekananda Reddy. Sh. D Siva Shankar Reddy would give them Rs. 40 Crore for the murder. Shaik Dastagiri was induced by T Gangi Reddy with Rs. 5 Crore as part of share in promised amount of Rs. 40 Crore. He also admitted that he had received Rs. 1 Crore from Sh. Y Sunil Yadav who took Rs. 25 Lakh from it. He gave the remaining Rs. 75 Lakh to his friend Sh. Syed Munna and the CBI later recovered and seized Rs. 46.70 Lakh cash and unaccounted jewellery from the locker of Syed Munna and his mother.
ED had registered a case of money laundering on the basis of the FIR and chargesheets filed by the CBI registered as the invoked sections i.e. 120-B and 302 of the IPC, 1860 are scheduled offence under Schedule to the PMLA, 2002. Searches were conducted at residential premises of the key accused in Hyderabad and Kadapa on 21.08.2026.
