Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigns in protest of Farmers’ Produce Trade & Commerce Bill 2020: Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Badal has resigned in protest of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020. Ms Harsimrat Badal belongs to Shiromanu Akali Dal. It is reported that the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had sent her resignation to the Prime Minister.
India committed to resolve current border issue with China through fair & peaceful manner: Rajnath Singh: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that India is committed to resolve the current border issue with China through a fair and peaceful manner and at the same time the country is also prepared to deal with all contingencies. He said, China is trying to change the status quo at the Line of Actual Control which is unacceptable to India at any condition. The Defence Minister was making a statement in the Rajya Sabha on the development on border in Ladakh region. Mr. Singh said, the current situation is very different both in terms of scale of troops involved and number of friction points. He said, conduct of Indian forces throughout the standoff shows that while they maintained patience in face of provocative actions, they also equally displayed valour when required to protect territorial integrity of the country.

NPPA extends ceiling prices of knee implants for another one year till 14th Sept 2021: To ensure accessibility of necessary medical devices to the common man at genuine cost, drug price regulator National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, NPPA has extended ceiling prices of knee implants for another one year till 14th September 2021. A notification has been issued by NPPA in this regard.
Govt sets up Task Force to reconsider legal age of marriage for women: Ravi Shankar Prasad: Union Government has set up a Task Force to reconsider the legal age of marriage for women. This was stated by the Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. The Minister said, a Task Force has been set up in June this year to examine the matters related to the age of motherhood, lowering Maternal Mortality Ratio and improvement of nutritional levels.

Tamil Nadu: Prominent Ayurveda physician PR Krishnakumar passes away: In Tamil Nadu, prominent Ayurveda physician and Managing Director of the iconic Coimbatore Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, PR Krishnakumar passed away in Coimbatore yesterday. He was 69. He had been under treatment for various ailments at a private hospital in Coimbatore for the past one week. Krishnakumar, who had done yeomen service for the popularisation of the Ayurvedic system of medicine had been conferred the Padmasri award in He had also been the recipient of the National Ayurveda Award instituted by the Government of India. Besides being the founder of AVP Research Foundation, Krishnakumar was also the Chancellor of the renowned Avinashilingam University in Coimbatore.
Gujarat Govt not to follow Centre’s guidelines for partial opening of schools from Sept 21 due to COVID-19 infection: Gujarat Government has decided not to follow the guidelines of the Centre for partial opening of schools from 21st of September. This was announced by State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama in Gandhinagar. AIR correspondent reports that this decision was taken during the State Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. The Centre had permitted the Class 9th to 12th students to visit their school with the written consent of parents from 21st of September. However, this guideline of Unlock-4 will not be implemented in Gujarat. As this provision was not binding for states, the Government of Gujarat has decided that the partial reopening of schools for Class 9th to 12th will not be effective as of now.

Nations need to come together to provide vital treatment to suppress Covid-19 transmission: UN Chief: Describing the Coronavirus as the number one global security threat facing the world today, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said that nations need to come together to provide vital treatment to suppress transmission and save lives over the next year.He said the COVID-19 pandemic is a crisis unlike any in our lifetimes, and so this year’s General Assembly session will be unlike any other, too. He said we need a vaccine to be affordable and available to all. The 75th session of the UN General Assembly commenced on Tuesday. For the first time in the history of the 193-member organization, world leaders will not be travelling to New York to address the annual high-level session and summits due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, nations will send in pre-recorded video statements of their Heads of State and Government that will be played in the General Assembly hall, beginning with the General Debate that begins on September 22.
Trump Administration reveals plans to offer COVID-19 vaccine to all US citizen free of cost: Trump Administration has unveiled its COVID-19 vaccine delivery plan which entails administering the drug to all US citizens free of charge. US government believes a COVID-19 vaccine will be available as soon as January and the distribution plans are outlined in two documents released by the US Department of Health and Human Services and the US Department of Defence. Trump Administration plans on delivering a ‘safe and effective’ COVID-19 vaccine to multiple sites with no cost for the providers and no out of pocket charge for the recipient. In a statement, US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said that there may be limited availability of the vaccine in the initial stages and in such an event, front line workers and essential workers will be given priority. The statement also mentioned that while the Pentagon will be assisting in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, it will be administered by civilian health workers.

All seven Indian nationals kidnapped in Afghanistan in May 2018 brought back home safely: MEA: External Affairs Ministry has said all seven Indian nationals kidnapped in Afghanistan in May 2018 have been brought back home safely. Replying to a media query, MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said the last remaining Indian national was released from captivity in Afghanistan and returned to India on 12th of this month. He conveyed India’s grateful thanks to the Afghanistan government for the assistance extended over the past two years in securing the release of all seven Indian nationals.
MEA says it has taken up matter of Zhenhua data leak with Chinese side: External Affairs Ministry today said it has taken up the matter of Zhenhua data leak with the Chinese side. Replying to a media query, MEA
spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said according to the Chinese side, the
company is a private entity and there is no connection between it and the
Chinese government. The spokesperson said government has constituted
an Expert Committee under the National Cyber Security Coordinator to study these reports, evaluate their implications, assess any violations of law and submit its recommendations within thirty days.

Ministry of MSME announces new guidelines to support artisans including Pottery & Beekeeping activity: Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME, had announced expanding and doubling the support to Artisans who might be interested in making Agarbatti few days ago. Taking the efforts further, the Ministry has now come out with new guidelines for two more schemes which include Pottery Activity and Beekeeping Activity. These new initiatives of the Ministry with beneficiary oriented Self-Employment schemes, are aimed at rejuvenating the grass root economy contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. For Pottery Activity Government will provide assistance of pottery wheel, Clay Blunger, Granulator etc. It will also provide Wheel Pottery Training for traditional pottery artisans and Press Pottery training for pottery as well as non-pottery artisans in Self- Help Groups. There is also provision to provide Jigger-Jolly training programme for pottery as well as non-pottery
artisan in Self-Help Groups. A total of 6,075 Traditional and others nontraditional pottery artisans, Rural Un-employed youth, Migrant Labourers will get benefitted from this Scheme. In case of the Scheme for Beekeeping Activity, Government will provide assistance of Bee boxes and Tool kits. Under this scheme, Bee boxes, with Bee colonies, will also be distributed to Migrant workers in Prime Minister Gareeb Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan districts. A five-day beekeeping training will also be provided to the beneficiaries through various Training Centres or State Beekeeping Extension Centres or Master Trainers as per prescribed syllabus. To begin with, Scheme proposes to cover, during 2020-21, a total of 2,050 Beekeepers, Entrepreneurs, Farmers, Unemployed Youth, Adivasis will get benefitted from these projects or programme.
