CBI Court awards Three Years Imprisonment to then Chief Regional Manager, IRCTC, Lucknow in DA Case

The CBI Court, Lucknow, on 10.08.2026, has convicted and sentenced the accused, Krishna Mohan Tripathi, the then Chief Regional Manager, IRCTC, Regional Office, Lucknow, to Three Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 14.75 Lakh, in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 24.02.2010 as an offshoot of a trap case wherein the accused Krishna Mohan Tripathi, the then Chief Regional Manager of IRCTC Ltd., Lucknow, was caught red-handed on 31.10.2009 while demanding and accepting an illegal gratification of Rs. 70,000. Based on the results of the investigation of the trap case, which revealed that the accused was in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, the FIR of the instant DA case was registered against the accused.
After completion of the investigation, the CBI filed charge sheet on 13.12.2011 against the accused Krishna Mohan Tripathi. During the trial, the prosecution proved that the accused was in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 1,44,02,221 (102.53% of his total income).
The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
