CBI Arrests Post Office Official for Bribery in Unnao

On August 8, 2026, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Bighapur Post Office Office Assistant in Unnao, UP for bribery. The official allegedly demanded Rs. 35,000 to verify a loan subsidy for a bakery business. CBI caught him accepting Rs. 25,000 during a sting operation. He will face court proceedings.

CBI ARRESTS POST OFFICE OFFICIAL IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), today, i.e., 08.08.2026 has arrested the Office Assistant, Bighapur Post Office, Unnao, UP, in a bribery case.

The CBI registered the instant case on 07.08.2026 based on a complaint alleging that the complainant had availed a loan of Rs. 10,00,000 from Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank, Bhagwant Nagar under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme to run/open a bakery and the subsidy of Rs. 3,49,500 for this loan had been credited in the bank. It was alleged that the accused Office Assistant, Bighapur Post Office, Unnao, UP had demanded Rs. 35,000 from the complainant as a bribe for verification of his unit for the subsidy of loan.

The CBI laid a trap on 08.08.2026, and the accused Office Assistant was apprehended red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from the complainant. The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the competent Court in Lucknow.
