Union Ministry of Home Affairs has granted FCRA registration to the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, allowing it to receive foreign contributions for its activities. Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan runs the foundation which focuses on social welfare initiatives.
The approval comes at a time when Dhawan has been linked to an ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate. Last year, the agency attached immovable assets worth ₹ 4.5 crore connected to him in a money laundering case related to the banned betting platform 1xBet.
With this registration, the foundation has been added to the list of organisations permitted to accept overseas funding. FCRA clearance
