Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card and Passport are considered as one of the essential documents. They can also be misused if they fall in the wrong hands. Know what to do after someone’s death?

Usually, for handling any kind of government or private sector work, we need Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card and Passport. Apart from our identity card, these documents are also used as address proof. But what should be done with these documents after the death of a person, have you ever thought about this? Let me tell you.

Aadhar card

First of all let’s talk about Aadhar card, it is considered as Universal ID. There is no such system as cancellation of Aadhar card after someone’s death. In such a situation, to prevent misuse of the deceased’s Aadhaar, it can be locked through the UIDAI website. Also, if the person is taking benefit of any scheme or subsidy through Aadhaar before his death, then the concerned department should inform about the death of the person. So that his name is removed from the scheme.

pan card

The PAN card of the deceased person can be surrendered. For this, the family member of the deceased will have to approach the Income Tax Department. Before surrendering, all the accounts of the deceased should be transferred or closed in the name of another person. So that later there will be no problem in this work.

voter id

You get a chance to vote only through Voter ID. But after someone’s death, you can get his voter ID card canceled. For this, you will have to go to the election office and fill Form-7, after which this card will be canceled. The death certificate of the deceased may be required to get the voter ID canceled.

Passport

Like the Aadhar card, there is no system to cancel the passport. It automatically becomes invalid after its expiration date. In such a situation, keep the passport with you till its time limit is over, so that it does not fall into any wrong hands.
