That’s right! This particular user from Chennai invested significantly in condoms, totaling over a lakh. Swiggy cheekily described this as a humorous nod to “planning ahead.”

In their annual report titled ‘How India Instamarted,’ Swiggy disclosed that one account in Chennai placed 228 distinct orders for condoms, amounting to ₹1,06,398.

The data revealed that 1 in every 127 Instamart orders featured a condom, with September reigning as the month with the highest purchases, witnessing a 24% surge.

Additionally, another Chennai user earned the title of “Pet Parent of the Year” on Instamart after spending ₹2.41 lakh on pet supplies in 2025.

2025’s Top Spender

The title of Swiggy Instamart’s top spender for 2025 goes to a user in Kochi, Kerala, who extravagantly spent over ₹22 lakh. This shopper added a variety of items to their cart, including 22 iPhone 17s, 24K gold coins, a Philips air fryer, and everyday essentials like Tic Tacs, milk, eggs, ice cream, and fresh fruits.

Other Noteworthy Purchases on Instamart:

  • A gadget aficionado from Hyderabad splurged ₹4.3 lakh on three iPhone 17s in a single transaction.
  • A techno-savvy individual from Noida dropped ₹2.69 lakh on Bluetooth speakers, SSDs, and robotic vacuums all at once.
  • A user from Bengaluru embraced the festive spirit this Diwali by purchasing a 1 kg silver brick for ₹1,97,000 through Instamart.

Everyday Heroes of Swiggy Instamart

According to the trends from 2025, staples like curry leaves, dahi, eggs, milk, and bananas emerged as the true Kitchen MVPs, leading the way in repeat orders across India.

Swiggy even highlighted a devoted fan of curry leaves, who placed a remarkable total of 368 orders, nearly one for each day of the year.

In 2025, India saw milk orders surpass 4 packets every second, a volume sufficient to fill over 26,000 Olympic-size swimming pools, as per Swiggy’s findings.

The Indian affinity for dairy was further emphasized in their order history, revealing that Paneer outsold cheese by more than 50%. For every 10 cheese orders, about 9 were directed towards butter and spreads.

Masala-flavored chips emerged as the go-to option for late-night snacking, topping the list for late-night orders in 9 out of the top 10 cities.

The Swiggy report identified some of the “heaviest hitters” among India’s shopping enthusiasts, noting four cities where users surpassed 1,000 orders in 2025:

  • Kolkata: 1,197 orders
  • Mumbai: 1,142 orders
  • Kochi: 1,089 orders
  • Gurgaon: 1,033 orders

The peak activity for Instamart occurred between 7 AM – 11 AM and again from 4 PM – 7 PM.
