Former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das ji, appointed as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The order read, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Shaktikanta Das, IAS (Retired), as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister with effect from the date he assumes the office. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Born in Bhubaneshwar on February 26, 1957, Das pursued a degree in Bachelor’s and Master’s in History from St Stephen’s College in Delhi.
The former Governor is credited with handling a challenging time that was marked by intense pressure from the economic and financial sectors.
Das is also considered to have proved his mettle during the tumultuous phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling rising inflation to name a few.
